Update: Schools Accreditation Review
In the past, all Secondary Schools were given accreditation to assess Mechanical Engineering unit standards up to Level 2 with some schools also accredited to assess Level 3 Mechanical Engineering unit standards. However, concerns have been raised about the feasibility of schools having accreditation to assess Level 3, on-the-job, industry units. Competenz is advising schools to carefully consider the requirements of assessing the revised Construction and Mechanical Technologies Achievement Standards, which in many cases run parallel to some Industry training, Level 3 units. An accreditation review is being undertaken in March this year. This process will involve consultation with schools and may result in some schools with Mechanical Engineering Level 3 accreditation being advised by NZQA to remove these from their Base Scope of Accreditation.
