A treat for the eyes
Presentation Day is a chance for the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) Baking and Patisserie students to show off. It’s the culmination of the skills they have learnt over the past year spent training towards their National Certificate in Baking, Level 3.
For the final presentation, students had to plan and produce a centre piece made from gingerbread, bread, pastillage, sugar or chocolate, a plastic iced fruit cake, a tiramisu gateau, a chocolate or black forest torte, and a baked cheesecake.
Such a task is no easy feat and the bakers were given 20 hours of class time to prepare and make their centre piece and fruit cake, and a further 8 hours to produce the remaining 3 goods.
The quality of work was outstanding and a real site to see. Well done to all the graduates!
